Open debate makes good policy.
Utah needs more transparency in its governing. This can only happen through supporting open, honest, and robust debate that all Utahns have access to. Closed legislative caucuses, especially in a party with a super majority, mean that all the discussion and debate happen behind closed doors, away from constituents and free from accountability. All legislative caucuses should be open so that parties don’t legislate in the dark.
We need political parties that welcome openness, like the United Utah Party. Openness and a willingness to collaborate make it possible for many viewpoints and ideas to be heard and discussed, no mater who they come from. More input from more sources means better policy, and better policy helps us all.
